A global pharmaceutical company have a new opportunity for a Government Affairs Manager to join their External Affairs team.

The Government Affairs Manager will focus on ongoing external engagement with key policy stakeholders. This is a business critical role responsible for optimising the operating environment for the business, delivered through in depth understanding of the NHS and health policy levers as well as first class relationships with parliamentarians and Government officials.

You will:

  • Take a leadership role in relevant franchises to support the development of annual and LRP strategies to support the business;
  • Work collaboratively in a matrix across all areas of the business both internally and externally, particularly across brand teams, and NHS England, Department of Health and Westminster;
  • Use thorough understanding of the external environment to help brand planning to identify and assess the commercial impact of external opportunities and threats;
  • Be credible and influential when working with high level decision makers in ABPI, NHSE, parliament and with policy stakeholders;
  • Ensure policy activity meets the specific needs of customer agendas.

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sectors; policy, public affairs experience;
  • A solid understanding of how policy is used to support the business and optimise business opportunities;
  • A deep understanding of the NHS and its policy levers, and a network of contacts in national policy and commissioning;
  • Demonstrable experience in building strong relationships and key influencing skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills.
