Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Hospice UK was founded in 1984 as Help the Hospices and is the national charity for hospice care.

Our work aims to represent and support our member hospices and work with them and other organisations to develop and improve hospice and palliative care throughout the UK and across the world.

Our strategic priorities for 2012 to 2016 are to:

  • be the leading advocate for hospice care;
  • promote and support excellence in hospice care;
  • support those providing hospice care.

About the role

Influencing the policy agenda, and shaping our advocacy activities is key to supporting our aspiration to be the leading advocate for hospice care.

The Head of Policy and Advocacy will support the work of the Director of Policy and Advocacy in leading our policy development and influencing work on behalf of local hospices and in the interests of people at the end of life and their families and carers. The post holder will also design and implement appropriate policy and advocacy support for hospices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience of leading policy, public affairs or advocacy activities at a national or regional level, knowledge of health or voluntary sector policy in the UK, and experience of developing and delivering policy support across the four nations.

The candidate must be able to design and implement policy and public affairs activities, and be comfortable managing complexity. They will need to be able to analyse and interpret complex issues, and build cogent arguments for change, and be a confident communicator able to engage with people at all levels.
