The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

A fantastic 6 month fixed term contract has arisen for a Head of Policy and Public Affairs (Public Sector).

You will be:

  • Responsible for leading the policy and public affairs function, including developing and delivering annual work plans, and ensuring that objectives and performance targets are met;
  • Develop and lead the strategic approach to, and ensure delivery of, policy and public affairs work for the organisation, ensuring alignment with media and public relations strategies;
  • Oversee news and media relations work to promote and manage organisation's reputation and to support organisation’s approach to public affairs and policy;
  • Lead work to establish, promote and maintain relationships with politicians, policy makers, the sector and other external agencies to influence the higher education agenda and ensure the best possible operating environment for organisation;
  • Oversee the development of policy position papers and their publication and promulgation;
  • Oversee policy informed responses to consultations and the submission of evidence to enquiries, and manage and co-ordinate those responses.

You will have:

  • Extensive proven experience in leading the analysis and development of policies and policy as well as the development and delivery of policy positions;
  • Experience of leading public affairs, including media activities at a senior level;
  • Experience of developing and implementing policy and public affairs strategies, and supporting the development of long term organisational strategies;
  • Astute understanding of policy environment and experience of forming policy-oriented relationships;
  • Experience of successfully leading and managing teams.
