Scope exists to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else. With a general election less than a year away and economic recovery taking hold, we are ready to grasp the opportunity to raise disabled people’s living standards in Britain. We need to address the extra costs disabled people face, create employment opportunities and improve support to live independently. Underlying all of this we need to shift the attitudes that make daily life harder than it needs to be.

We’re building a new External Affairs Department to drive Scope’s influence, profile and reputation and we’re looking for the very best talent to drive our strategy and deliver social change. The Head of Policy and Research will work closely with the Heads of Public Affairs, Campaigns, Media and others to devise innovative influencing strategies and ensure our campaigns are built on robust evidence and policy ideas.

We’re looking for a policy professional with a proven ability to make a genuine and lasting difference. Politically astute and an effective network builder, you will have a successful track record of working collaboratively with colleagues and through external partnerships to influence national policy. Creative, innovative and inclusive, you will be a skilled people manager, able to lead a high performing team. While a background in the voluntary sector isn’t essential, you’ll see the bigger picture, and understand what it takes to drive real societal change.
