Detailed Job Description
Key Activities:
- Develop and help deliver the client's advocacy and public affairs strategy;
- Build engagement at Westminster and devolved institutions and with key Government Departments, including DCMS, Cabinet Office, HM Treasury and DCLG;
- Raise the profile, credibility & influence of the organisation with key individuals and audiences across the public, private & voluntary sectors and within government;
- Act as a spokesperson and represent the client in media interviews and at industry events, policy forums and other relevant meetings;
- Serve as a senior advisor to the Managing Director in pursuit of core business objectives;
- Co-ordinate providers of consultancy services to ensure delivery of effective, integrated, PR and PA reports and campaigns.
Candidate's Profile
Required Skills:
- Proven track record of public affairs delivery at a senior level, with prior experience of working in Westminster and Holyrood, preferably for a business organisation;
- Strong understanding of public policy environment and extensive knowledge of the UK political and media environment;
- A good track record of stakeholder management at senior levels across the public, private and voluntary sectors;
- An understanding of the regulatory framework within which the organisation operates;
- A strong understanding of financial achievements and openings for increase of charity proceeds;
- Knowledge and understanding of policy development and legislation within UK government, good political understanding and contacts;
- Outstanding communication skills, both in terms of written and oral work, with experience of communicating effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
