Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

A fantastic 12 month fixed term contract has arisen for a Head of Research, Insight and Public Affairs with a public sector body.

You will be:

  • Leading and contributing as required to the development and implementation of public affairs, insight and research strategies, products, systems and processes to support the delivery of our corporate strategy and business plans;
  • Provide direction, support and oversight to team members on projects or initiatives and, where appropriate, leading the delivery of specific projects or initiatives;
  • Deliver high quality external and internal research to help the organisation evaluate and improve its services and inform insight strategies, including responsibility for the research budget;
  • Contribute to the direction and leadership of the Public Affairs and Insight Team, supporting effective matrix management and ensuring that external and internal inputs to our Insight work are closely aligned;
  • Lead cross-department management initiatives (e.g. training and development plan for the department, business plan input).

You will have:

  • Knowledge of public policy in a range of different areas (e.g. health, social care, complaints or customer service);
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and/or public policy development in a range of different areas;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the workings of the NHS, Westminster and Whitehall, including the legislative process;
  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating public affairs, stakeholder engagement and/or policy development strategies to meet strategic aims;
  • Experiencing of shaping, articulating and advocating an organisation’s agenda with multiple audiences;
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex issues in a compelling way to different audiences;
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality policy and/or research work;
  • Proven advisor to senior audiences and used to building trust and credibility quickly;
  • Experience of leading teams through change to achieve results and managing multidisciplinary teams;
  • Experience of public affairs and stakeholder management.
