This is an excellent opportunity for a public policy professional to head up a public policy programme for a very influential policy-led organisation.

You will be responsible for leading and developing innovative public policy ideas and initiatives that seek to push the boundaries on current thinking and further enhance the organisation’s reputation as a thought leader. The policy and research portfolio will include banking and financial services, SME’s, competition, personal finance and assets etc...

The successful candidate will manage multiple strategic policy projects whilst developing a suitable communications programme to engage government, industry and commerce and other organisations as relevant. Your outputs will include innovative thought pieces, research reports and documents and you will act as an ambassador for the organisation in relation to the policy portfolio.

You will also be responsible for exploring new income streams for the organisation through partnerships with individuals and organisations that hold similar policy interests.

Role requirements

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

A strong academic background - educated to degree level or equivalent;

A track record in developing new public policy ideas in light of current thinking and the political climate – the topical areas should be (or related to) financial services, business, innovation, enterprise etc...;

Experience of working in a public policy environment (government, regulatory body, professional/ trade body, think tank etc...);

A demonstrable track record in generating new income streams;

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor style to different audiences;

Demonstrable experience of developing long-standing relationships with government, the third sector, business, academia etc...;

Project and programme management experience including people and budgets.
