Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

Our client is a well-regarded UK membership body representing members from high profile markets. This is an exciting opportunity for a Media Manager to join their team, working alongside the Head of Communications and confidently taking the lead on enquiries from journalists, drafting documents, social media and briefings. 

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Responding to media queries and monitoring social media;
  • Publicising the work the organisation undertakes to improve the business environment for its members;
  • Anticipating media queries and preparing Q&A’s;
  • Arranging media briefings and preparing spokespeople;
  • Drafting the release to accompany the publication of monthly market statistics;
  • Preparing copy for corporate documents or trade journals;
  • Occasional weekend or evening duty;
  • Office admin to ensure smooth running of the press operation.

Key skills:

  • Solid and demonstrable experience of PR (Financial PR would be an advantage);
  • Advanced drafting skills, and awareness of differing tones for differing audiences;
  • Ability to prioritise and plan, and use own initiative to cope with competing deadlines;
  • Experience of crisis communications;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
