How much you achieve in life should not be determined by how much your parents earn. Yet in the UK, it too often is. We believe in the power of education to change this. Teach First is an education charity working in partnership with schools and other organisations to break the link between low family income and poor educational attainment.

We’re looking for a confident individual to help the charity raise awareness of educational disadvantage and Teach First’s role in addressing it. You’ll do this by developing and implementing press strategies on a local, regional and national level. You’ll do this by ensuring our media work highlights our partnerships with corporate supporters, by working with the Development (fundraising) team to develop case studies, campaigns and stories that highlight our work with our partners, and by developing and delivering press plans for our highest profile supporters.

You’ll provide media relations advice, training and support internally as well as monitor Teach First in the press. You’ll be up to date with relevant public policy debates and spot opportunities for reactive media work, clearly communicating our policy positions. You’ll take an active role in identifying and building relationships with external and internal stakeholders (including journalists) to achieve the vision.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, creativity and commitment to join the team. You’ll have strong planning and organisation skills and work well under pressure. We’re looking for someone with the ability to turn work round quickly and will come from either an agency or in-house press or media background. We’re looking for someone with high quality relationship management skills and a strong belief in the Teach First vision.
