Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

What will you be doing?

The Media Officer will play a key role in raising awareness of educational disadvantage and Teach First’s role in addressing it. You will develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of our work, position Teach First as a leading voice on education issues and help influence policy and public attitudes. This role will include developing and implementing media strategies, media messaging and statements while building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

What makes you the ideal candidate?

Firstly, commitment to delivering results and chasing opportunities and setting ambitious targets. We are also looking for experience in the following areas:

  • Communication & Influencing - Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, across a variety of audiences as well as communicating complex policy issues through the media and identifying and responding to external events to secure media coverage;
  • Collaboration - Commitment to working in a collaborative way and across a variety of communication channels;
  • Relationship Management - Experience of reputation and/or crisis management and dealing with hostile stakeholders;
  • Media - Developing and delivering proactive stories and securing significant coverage;
  • A strong news sense, and an understanding of the political and policy landscape.
