Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The Landscape Institute (LI) is looking for a Policy and Influencing Manager.

This is a new permanent post which will work with the policy team and LI members, to develop policy and to help ensure that the LI is recognised as a knowledgeable and influential professional body.

This is an exciting time for the LI as we seek to raise the profile of landscape and place with the public and decision makers. Landscape professionals have the vision needed to revitalise urban areas and neglected landscapes, creating spaces that benefit us in many ways. Ultimately their work aims to bring people closer to the environments in which they live. Our goal is to be viewed as thought leaders in public debates and to establish new strategic partnerships with other built and natural environment organisations.

To be successful, you will need to have demonstrable experience in policy, public affairs, or influencing role with a passion for outdoor environments.  We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of leading policy development and campaigns, with an understanding of political and policy distinctions between the UK and devolved nations. Excellent written, presentation and influencing skills are a must. You will be representing the LI at meetings at events.

This role will act as the LI’s principal policy expert for the devolved nations of Scotland and Northern Ireland and support wider policy development across the UK and internationally. Work in these regions include:

  • Our Scottish branch are looking to build upon the success of launching Landscape for Scotland through developing a Scottish landscape Alliance;
  • Engaging the public sector in Northern Ireland to ensure landscape is at the heart of key decisions.

The Landscape Institute (LI) aims to lead and inspire the landscape profession to ensure it is equipped to deliver its purpose under our Royal Charter for the benefit of people, place and nature, for today and for future generations.
