As we navigate post referendum UK, the ABI is looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join our friendly and successful Public Affairs team. In this highly interactive role you will contribute to maintaining an effective and influential profile for the ABI with a wide range of stakeholders including Government, Think Tanks and Member firms. You will also develop and deliver effective public affairs and influencing strategies in support of ABI policy and campaigns. As our Public Affairs Manager, you will lead and inspire our team of Public Affairs professionals to ensure the consistent provision of relevant political intelligence and policy input across the ABI.

About you:
To be successful in the role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret complex issues to explain our position with clarity and persuasion;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with proven plain English speech and writing capability;
- Significant experience of working with government stakeholders in a relevant public affairs environment;
- Ability to lead, manage, develop and retain a highly motivated and performing team, prioritising to deliver work across a broad range of issues and projects;
- Experience of planning and executing campaign-based engagement with politicians;
- Ability to work under pressure to agreed timelines and to exercise good political judgement at all times;
- Public Affairs agency experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
