The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

The BSDA is the national trade association representing the collective interests of producers and manufacturers of soft drinks including carbonated soft drinks, still and dilutable drinks, fruit juices and smoothies, and bottled waters.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced public affairs professional to support the BSDA’s public affairs work. You’ll be part of a team addressing a wide range of policy issues affecting the industry. This position reports to the Director General and will be based in our offices in London although frequent travel within the UK will be required.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Working with policymakers and other key stakeholders in the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales to promote the soft drinks industry;
  • Conducting meetings with BSDA members, politicians, government officials, other trade organisations and stakeholders;
  • Leading BSDA work on environmental and sustainability issues;
  • Briefing members on relevant policy issues and latest public policy developments;
  • Preparing BSDA policy documents, responses to consultative documents and commercial publications, newsletters and press releases as required;
  • Monitoring parliamentary proceedings and process of legislation using various political information resources;
  • Advising team members on areas of political activity relevant to their specialisation;
  • Assisting in the development of BSDA events, conferences and seminars with other team members.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in a policy / public affairs role;
  • Agency experience an advantage;
  • Understanding of UK political institutions and processes;
  • Understanding of issues affecting the industry;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
