When Sara moved to England from Jordan she couldn’t speak a word of English. Frustrated, her behaviour plummeted and she was almost excluded from school. Now she’s studying history at the University of Oxford.

We work with thousands of brilliant teachers, schools, universities and partners in England and Wales, helping young people like Sara to achieve their ambitions, and we are looking for an exceptional Public Affairs Officer to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract until end of November 2018.

The Public Affairs Officer will help deliver Teach First’s government relations and policy influencing work. They will be responsible for supporting work to build and maintain relationships with key political and policy stakeholders including the Department for Education, local MPs, think tanks, unions and key stakeholders in both English and Welsh education.

You will be a proactive and tenacious individual who is experienced in building awareness and support of our work. You use your expert relationship management capabilities to influence policy and display strong political acumen at all times. Finally you are committed to supporting young people from low income communities and want to play a key role in delivering Teach First’s public affairs priorities for 2018.

Along with the satisfaction of knowing you are making a real difference, you will also receive £31,510 per annum plus £3,000 London Weighting & excellent benefits.

We trust our people and believe that you do your best work when you can balance your work and home life. Our Agile working policy lets you agree with your line manager when and where you work most effectively.

The day when no child’s future is limited by their background is coming, yet, there is still more to be done. Join us and help us ensure every child in the UK has a fair shot at their ambitions.
