The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

How much you achieve in life should not be determined by how much your parents earn. Yet in the UK, it too often is. We believe in the power of education to change this. Teach First is an education charity working in partnership with schools and other organisations to break the link between low family income and poor educational attainment.

This is a new role within our Press, Public Affairs and Policy team who will be required to play a central role in delivering Teach First’s influencing work. As the Public Affairs Officer, you’ll support and maintain relationships with key political and policy stakeholders that support Teach First and the achievement of our wider vision. You’ll specifically lead on our engagement with the Welsh Assembly and the Welsh Government, development a public affairs strategy tailored for Teach First Cymru.

You will maximise your relationships with colleagues across 11 Local Area teams and develop responses to key government, policy maker and policy influencer consultations and enquiries. Supporting the Policy Officer to produce policy reports and publications, you’ll play a key role in advising colleagues, writing speeches and preparing briefs.

This is a critical role for Teach First and an individual to support our work in both England and Wales. Playing a leading role in our Welsh public affairs strategy and helping to raise awareness of our role in addressing educational disadvantage.

To be successful, you’ll have proven public affairs experience, and an understanding of the Welsh government and education context. You’ll have a strong understanding of the education political and policy landscape and strong political acumen. You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to draft briefings, positions and a variety of other materials as well as strong relationship management skills and the ability to build effective relationships with people of all working styles.
