An exciting new opportunity is available for a Senior Communications Manager to join St George Plc (a wholly owned subsidiary of The Berkeley Group, a FTSE 250 Company). You will be working with the land teams, providing communications support on a variety of major property developments and land bids. There will also be an element of promoting the good work of St George and securing positive coverage and also managing potential negative coverage.
St George delivers major residential-led mixed use developments across London. Current projects include London Dock (the former News International plant in Wapping), Dickens Yard and Filmworks, Chelsea Creek, Royal Exchange Kingston and One Blackfriars.
The successful candidate will work across all St George developments and will be an excellent written and oral communicator, able to distil complex information to be easily understood by communities, planners and other stakeholders.
As a Senior Communications Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Strategic Planning Director to provide the land teams with communications advice and support in relation to planning applications and community engagement, including monitoring local politics, community groups, land bids, award submissions and preparations of case studies showcasing the work of St George/Berkeley Group;
- Researching, reviewing and assisting in the implementation of community and stakeholder consultation on development proposals, including drafting of community newsletters, websites and exhibition materials;
- Working with external agencies to promote employment, training and other CSR activities relating to St George’s developments in the local trade media;
- Assisting in the promotion and management of St George’s reputation amongst national, regional and local Government, land owners and other relevant organisations;
- Monitoring and reviewing national and London planning consultations, providing timely updates to St George and Berkeley Group;
- Providing Public Affairs support in respect of local, regional and national Government;
- Management of a Communications Manager.
The successful candidate must have:
- Strong experience within property planning communications at a senior level– either agency or in-house;
- Appreciation of the impact of policy proposals on a developer, as well as understanding of London politics and current affairs;
- Excellent oral and written communications – attention to detail is critical;
- Ability to quickly understand and condense complex detail into a clear and brief summary;
- Ability to solve problems and respond quickly to emerging issues;
- Educated to Degree level.
