A leading voice for the healthcare sector is currently seeking a Senior Policy Officer to lead on delivering the organisation’s strategic policy objectives in relation to healthcare workforce issues.

About the job

This is a high profile and interesting brief where you will be responsible for the following:

  • Taking the lead on delivering a portfolio of policy projects centred on workforce issues;
  • Providing counsel and authoritative leadership to internal and external stakeholders on the policy portfolio;
  • Developing and delivering expertise and thought leadership on workforce policy issues in light of changing political dynamics;
  • Acting as the organisation’s advocate when engaging with external bodies (NHS England, Department of Health etc.) on relevant policy concerns.

Required knowledge, skills & experience

Candidates will have a strong background in public policy development, ideally with an interest or experience of health policy in the UK. Expertise in workforce development policy would also be highly regarded. 

The following is essential:

  • A strong academic background to degree-level or equivalent;
  • Extensive experience in public policy development, ideally with a strong health policy focus;
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders, opinion formers and decision-makers;
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering policy projects;
  • A strong understanding of the UK political landscape;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the gravitas, credibility and confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders, policy makers, parliamentarians etc.
