This is an opportunity to join a growing team of public affairs and communications professionals at an essential time for the planning profession. This role will lead the institute’s engagement with a major piece of legislation – The Planning Reform Bill – which is due to be introduced to Parliament this session. The Bill is already generating significant interest from across the political spectrum and this is an excellent chance to help shape the debate.
The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is the leading membership body in the UK for professional planners. We work closely with the Westminster government influencing policy, legislation and priorities for the built environment. This role will work closely with the Chief Executive, the director of communications and the wider comms team to ensure that our messages and asks are being heard throughout Whitehall and Westminster.
RTPI is looking for an ambitious public affairs professional with a desire to help shape the role and raise the profile of the institute among decision-makers and policy-influencers. You will have a good working knowledge of Whitehall, Westminster and the devolved governments and a keen appreciation of what politicians and advisors need from professional bodies.
As a result of coronavirus this role is currently home-based with voluntary access to the City of London offices if required. In future, the role will be suitable for a mix of home and office working.
RTPI has a positive, supportive and inclusive work environment that actively operates a policy of helping its employees at all levels to achieve professional growth. We seek to foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion.
