Priorities for boosting UK exports
It is widely accepted that to improve British economic performance and cut the trade deficit, it is necessary to increase exports. The country has world-beating exporters but we lag behind some other developed countries, and our SMEs need to improve their export performance.
The EU is our largest export market but has generally been afflicted with poor growth since 2008. There are however important opportunities to complete the EU single market and to export more to the fast growing eastern states. Beyond the EU the so-called BRICs and MINTS offer major but fiercely contested opportunities. Determining priorities involves deciding which markets are growing rapidly and in which markets we will have a competitive advantage.
Come and hear Lord Livingston, Minister for Trade and Investment, who has extensive private sector experience, lead a discussion how to boost UK exports.
