In this lecture Dr Lawrence Joseph will address the history of constitutionalism in Grenada; the concept of constitutionalism as inclusive of the doctrine of separation of powers, independence of the judiciary and the rule of law; the overthrow of the constitutional government in Grenada; the return to constitutionalism.
Dr Joseph is President of the Senate of Grenada and he is also a practising lawyer. Formerly he was Grenada's Attorney General and Speaker of the House of Representatives. He is the current holder of the prestigious S T Lee Visiting Professorial Fellowship at the University of London’s School of Advanced Study.
This is the first of three public lectures that Dr Joseph is giving on the theme of "Constitutionalism, Revolutions and the Question of Legitimacy" in London, Belfast and Cardiff.
