The long-awaited Energy White Paper is set to be published before the end of the year, and will set out a blueprint for the decarbonisation of the energy sector over the coming decades. It will seek to catalyse greater investment in clean generation, smart grids, batteries, and carbon capture and storage, support embryonic markets in heat and hydrogen, and pave the way for the decarbonisation of transport and buildings.
But what does this mean in practical terms for businesses in the sector and for investors? Which policy levers is government considering pulling? How can you prepare for publication and, once it is published, how can you ensure its proposals work for you? What action can businesses take to mitigate any risks and seize opportunities which arise?
