Westminster Forum will hold a lunch meeting with Stephen Speed, Director Energy Development Unit, DECC on Thursday 21st April. The event will be kindly hosted by Instinctif.
The speaker will provide an update on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) over the last two years and the impact of low oil prices.
About Stephen Speed
Stephen Speed joined the Civil Service in 1983. He worked in posts ranging from research in nanometre-level measurement and fabrication technologies at the National Physical Laboratory, science and policy research policy and funding, and managing central government relationships with the UK’s regional development agencies.
Stephen was appointed Chief Executive Officer of The Insolvency Service, a post which he held for five years before being appointed to Director of the Energy Development Unit at the Department of Energy and Climate Change in 2012. In this role he looks after UK oil and gas reserves including new shale gas plays, the environmental regulation of offshore oil and gas activity, the establishment of the Oil and Gas Authority and the management of the legacy of former nationalised coal mining activities. His team also advises Ministers on major energy infrastructure planning consent decisions.
