Telegraph Wonder Women is joining with Parliament Week for a panel debate about Women in Politics.
This ‘Question Time’-style event – to include questions from the audience – will explore a number of key issues about women, politics and power:
- Does having more women involved in democratic life make a difference to the style of leadership or type of policies in place?
- Is there such a thing as “the women’s vote”?
- Is the gender imbalance over-emphasised, are there other participation issues (class, background) that need tackling more urgently?
Join us for an evening of energetic discussion, polemic debate and networking opportunities with a high profile panel:
- Emma Barnett, Editor, Telegraph Wonder Women (chairwoman)
- Yvette Cooper, Shadow Home Secretary and Labour MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford
- Dr Sarah Wollaston, Conservative MP for Totnes
- Dr Helen McCarthy, Senior Lecturer in History, Queen Mary University, whose specialist subjects include the changing place of women in British diplomatic life
- Jenny Garrett MA, Executive Coach and Leadership Expert
- Lucy Manning, UK Editor and former political correspondent, ITV News
