MTVH was built on a simple mission – to give people a safe, secure and affordable home, and the chance to live well.

That is as true today as it was in the 1950s, when founder Molly Huggins established Metropolitan to provide decent homes for Windrush migrants in London, and as it was in the 1980s as Thames Valley housing pioneered a new innovative Share Ownership product, to make home ownership more affordable.

Today, MTVH owns or manages more than 57,000 homes. It also provides a range of care and support services, with specialist areas including older people, mental health and transitional services which provides intensive support to marginalised or vulnerable people.

The pandemic has shown how crucial good homes and strong communities are, and last year MTVH has launched a new five-year strategy - Serving People Better Every Day - setting out the role the organisation will play in the economic and societal recovery.

MTVH is championing a better cared for, fairer, and more prosperous society. Like its founders before it, the team of today aims to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

The role

What do our 2000 colleagues know about MTVH, our current priorities and the way our work has an everyday impact on people’s lives? How in touch are colleagues with our rich past and so have the context for their work today? How motivated do colleagues feel to deliver against our strategy and plan?

The role of Corporate Affairs Executive, Colleague Communications, lies at the heart of organisational performance.

From housing affordability and young people’s housing futures, to climate change to migrant destitution, MTVH works on a range of important and cutting-edge issues. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the culture of the organisation and work with the Senior Corporate Affairs Manager to deliver a creative, engaging and impactful internal communications programme. Whilst influencing leadership, and wider colleagues across MTVH in order to build their understanding of, and commitment to, the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • An inquiring mind, and willingness to form a thorough understanding MTVH;
  • Strong copywriting skills;
  • Ability to articulate ideas effectively and engage audiences convincingly, whether small or large, friendly or opposed;
  • Familiarity with the news agenda and what makes a good story;
  • Creative flair to engage hearts as well as minds;
