We are the leading coalition of health and care charities in England. We work with our 180 member organisations, and with the wider health and care system, to push for services that enable people to live their best lives. We do this by influencing policy, improving practice and acting as a voice for voluntary organisations. We are well-respected, influential, and have a reputation for punching above our weight.

Over the past few years, we have adopted a new strategy, developed a new business model and grown our team. It is our mission to make what matters to people matter in health and care, and to be a truly insight-led organisation, influencer and change maker. Starting with the insight also means we have a much stronger focus than we had previously on inequality, because of the undeniable  evidence that demonstrates the persistent and far-reaching inequalities that characterise health and health service use.

We are looking for a Head of Policy to head up our influencing agenda in a fixed-term maternity cover role, working with senior leaders right across the health and care system, our members, and people who are themselves living with ill health or disadvantage.

We need an ambitious, creative and experienced influencer to continue to shape and realise this approach to policy: putting policy into practice; working with, rather than ‘on behalf of’ our members, patients and service users; and creating policy that has lived experience, particularly of people affected by inequality, at its core.

This role reports directly to Charlotte Augst, our CEO, and line manages at least two direct reports.
