We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Head of Public Affairs to come and play a leading role in our engagement with Westminster, Whitehall and local government. You’ll be based in our London Bridge office, with the ability to work flexibly between the office and home.
What you’ll be doing
Clarion has interactions with hundreds of political stakeholders across the country, from government ministers through to ward councillors. Individual relationships are held by different colleagues across the group, but the responsibility of the Head of Public Affairs is to have oversight of our external engagement and ensure we have consistent and purposeful engagement with elected representatives.
The Head of Public Affairs is also responsible for political monitoring and intelligence, providing regular advice to both the Director of Communications and the Group Executive on policy development in Westminster and Whitehall.
What you’ll need
As an experienced public affairs professional, you’ll have an in depth knowledge of how the UK political system works, including the process of passing legislation. You’ll come with significant experience of working in a Public Affairs role, either in-house, for a business or charity or at an agency.
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record advising senior leaders (ideally at CEO level) on public affairs and politics. You’ll have a strong knowledge of the current policy environment and the salient issues for Clarion Housing Group and other housing associations.
You must be able to effectively manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, including MPs and councillors.
