Would you like to join an award-winning team – working on key public policy agendas such as zero carbon, rail industry reform, trade deals and the economic value of rail investment?

You will work in a fast-paced environment with key stakeholders including Government, Parliament, and rail client bodies (e.g. Network Rail, Transport for London, Scotland’s Railway) to provide policy insight, briefings and analysis on high profile issues. The role would suit someone with an interest in policy, transport, Government or public affairs. It would also suit someone who enjoys organising various policy forums and events, bringing people together to discuss the salient issues of the day. The role requires a varied skillset and adaptability to a range of tasks, and it provides excellent exposure and insight into the most senior and influential decision makers in the rail industry.

RIA recently won the coveted Trade Association Forum 2024 Trade Association of the Year award. We sponsor a cross-industry Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Charter, and we have a strong team personal development offer.

We are particularly looking for individuals with:

  • Excellent written and analytical skills, including the ability to draft clear and compelling policy reports and respond to Government consultations within tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to thrive in a busy and varied workplace, working well with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Experience or a strong interest in rail or wider transport infrastructure, and a proven ability to learn about complex issues quickly; and
  • A sense of fun, who will enjoy working in a professional Westminster office as part of a highly motivated team.
