Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

I am currently recruiting for Public Affairs and Policy Manager for a charity in Bristol (home working will also be considered).

You will:

  • Lead on daily horizon scanning and provide relevant briefings for senior management on key legislative changes / issues impacting on the learning disability/social care sector;
  • Develop effective strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders and policy makers eg: DoH & SC, NHS England, Public Health England, LGAs, health and social care professional bodies and other third sector peers;
  • Act as the primary contact for Government / Parliamentarians / MPs and councillors, coordinating and sharing information as appropriate with internal stakeholders;
  • Review key Government / policy developments and use this insight to develop campaigns that raise awareness of the critical issues and the needs of people with learning disabilities.

You will have:

  • Proven management experience of devising, executing and evaluating public affairs / policy strategy;
  • A thorough understanding of the workings of government and wider political Process;
  • A good understanding of health and social care in England and policy development;
  • Proven experience of developing positive professional relationships with key stakeholders, including voluntary and statutory bodies, civil servants and Government bodies, thank tanks, academic institutions;
  • Experience of providing strategic advice and guidance on how to interact with government departments, MPs and select committees;
  • Experience of commissioning research with external partners.
