Our purpose is to pioneer access to medicines for NHS patients, and you can help us to achieve this as Public Affairs Lead for Sandoz UK.

In this role as Public Affairs Lead, you will represent Sandoz UK to stakeholders at a senior level within the NHS, Government, and other organisations. Our aim is to drive improvement in our operating environment so we can better fulfil our purpose.

This is a highly visible role, supporting the Country Head, and reporting to the Head of Market Access and Corporate Affairs. It requires the ability to understand the commercial implications of public policy.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing policy positions aimed at delivering a more favorable operating environment for the Sandoz UK;
  • Leading engagement with Government and other stakeholders on policy and commercial issues, building strong relationships to deliver for the long term;
  • Leading the development of public affairs strategies and managing their implementation;
  • Providing strategic counsel and input to shape stakeholder communications from across the business so that they are clear and in line with the company's broader corporate narrative;
  • Representing Sandoz UK on industry association groups etc., to ensure delivery of Sandoz UK input into cross-industry policies etc;
  • Leading responses to consultations on behalf of the business to articulate policy positions effectively;
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Specific projects may include, but are not limited to;
    • The Statutory Scheme and the Voluntary Pricing and Access Scheme;
    • Increasing access and uptake of biosimilars including bio-to-bio switching;
    • Leadership engagement programme.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Considerable public affairs experience such as having managed a public affairs team or having led the healthcare practice of a public affairs agency. Or you may have experience in Government (e.g., Special Advisor, Senior Official etc.) or in a public policy think tank;
  • Significant experience of operating in a commercial environment with an appreciation of the positive impact that public affairs can have on the bottom line;
  • A strong grounding in UK political processes across the four nations of the UK;
  • A demonstrable track-record of successful policy influencing;
  • Strong verbal communication and influencing skills and an ability to express ideas clearly and credibly in meetings and presentations at a senior level across the organisation;
  • Bachelors or higher degree in a life sciences discipline, public policy, or business administration.
