The role

As a senior member of the consultancy team, the purpose of this job is to provide political, industry and strategic expertise and to lead on a number of accounts ensuring consistently high-quality work for clients and to drive new business growth and client retention.

We are also keen to discuss a parttime role and the ability to deliver the role with the most flexible working.

Key accountabilities

Clients

  • Provide strategic communications consultancy services to a portfolio of assigned clients;
  • Provide strategic counsel to investors and high growth firms;
  • Actively manage and develop the overall client relationship and ensure that the client journey is fully embedded and embraced by all client teams at all stages;
  • Take responsibility for quality control of all consultancy provided by assigned client teams;
  • Own and manage the account planning process including budget, allocation, resourcing and recovery of billable hours;
  • Utilise GK strategic advisers and GK leadership as appropriate to support client activity.

New business

  • Seek out new business opportunities with both new and existing clients to generate fee income and coach direct reports in developing their skills in this area;
  • Participate in new business proposals and pitches for new clients with direction from the leadership team;
  • Develop content and GK credentials and capabilities to develop agreed priority areas for business development;
  • Participate in GK senior team meetings providing insight, ideas and advice as appropriate.

GK responsibilities

  • Provide input into relevant business planning activities where appropriate;
  • Support in the delivery of projects linked to the strategic commercial and operating plans as directed by the Directors;
  • Ensure that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but also owned by their direct reports;
  • Support in the implementation of company policy and procedure, ensuring all direct reports are aware and understand any changes;
  • Support the leadership team in representing the company to major clients and professional associations;
  • Develop, motivate and maintain effective teams, liaising with senior managers for any support required;
  • Uphold and demonstrate the GK values;
  • Ensure that client teams and staff throughout the organisation are compliant with PRCA, ORCL and any other codes of practice as required;
  • Responsible for GK-wide support, including training, time tracking management, and resource planning.
