NATS is recruiting a Corporate Affairs Executive based out of our Corporate and Technical Centre in Whiteley, Hampshire.

The role:

This position is part of the Corporate Affairs team delivering a programme of stakeholder engagement and communications activities to a wide range of external stakeholders including European and industry partners, the Government and politicians.

You will support the Corporate Affairs Manager Europe in protecting, developing and enhancing NATS’ reputation in European and Alliance activities, and provide admin support to the wider Corporate Affairs team to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the team.

Coordinating the production and delivery of public/customer facing collateral promoting NATS’ efforts to deliver a Single European Sky, and ensuring collateral is kept up to date.

Contributing to the development of communications plans and strategies on a range of corporate issues. Coordinating responses to government and other appropriate consultations.

Drafting content for external publication, including blog posts, features and press releases, on a wide range of corporate issues.

Maintaining a calendar of speaking opportunities and providing regular updates to the business on our speaking commitments and potential opportunities.

Developing the use of media, including social media, to identify opportunities where it can support the teams activities.

Participating in NATS’ response to major incident scenarios involving NATS, directly or indirectly. This includes participation in the 24/7 duty press officer roster and manning the press office out of hours at little or no notice depending on the incident.

Providing support to the Head of Corporate Affairs in the smooth running of the Corporate Affairs team including:

  • Support in organisation of team meetings;
  • Assistance with team budget and expenses;
  • Assistance in pulling together regular reporting requirements e.g. Monthly Business Report.

The person:

  • Educated to GCSE/A level standard;
  • Good communication and writing skills that can be adapted to different formats and audiences;
  • An awareness of social media and knowledge of how and when to use it;
  • Experience of working in a communications or public affairs role is preferable or demonstrable aptitude to learn;
  • Calm under pressure and able to work to tight timescales;
  • Able to build good relationships internally and externally;
  • Can demonstrate a good news sense and awareness of potentially contentious issues.
