We are SEC Newgate UK

An insights and research-driven global strategic communications and advocacy group. We have over 1,400 people worldwide, working across 60 offices in 29 different countries. We work at the nexus of business, politics, communities, markets and media to deliver positive outcomes. With over 850 professionals across the globe, we advise some of the world’s leading organisations as well as growing businesses, industry bodies and individuals.

There are many things we feel passionately about but one that links them all together is respect. Respect for each other, ourselves, our clients, our suppliers, the environment we work in, the communities we operate in, and respect for everyone that are impacted by our actions.

Our opportunity:

Following a number of exciting new business wins, SEC Newgate UK is looking for a motivated Executive to join our team in London, working within the Advocacy practice, on local stakeholder and community engagement strategies.

What you’ll be doing:

The role is based in our Planning and Engagement team. We help our clients build public acceptability for proposed new development through communications and local engagement. We work particularly in the energy transition sector, as well as infrastructure and property.

The role would involve working on some of the most exciting development projects proposed. We are currently supporting renewable energy projects including one of the first onshore wind farms proposed in England since planning restrictions were lifted last year and some of the UK's largest solar farms, as well as new nuclear power stations and airport expansion.

Executives are the bedrock of our team. You would:

  • be responsible for producing research and analysis to help provide our clients with the context they need to build effective strategies;
  • create communications collateral to support the delivery of impactful campaigns;
  • organise and attend consultation events, working directly in communities where new infrastructure is proposed;
  • analyse and report on feedback from our public consultations, so clients can understand and address feedback about their plans.

Working for a top 30 global communications group and having close interaction with the wider team in the UK and beyond, you will have the opportunity to broaden your skillset and to become involved in providing advice to clients across our various specialisms - from public affairs and stakeholder engagement, to corporate, financial and consumer communications.

Ideal for you if you:

We are looking for a candidate who is interested in local and national politics, the built environment, and the transition to a net zero economy.

  • You would need strong writing, research and analytical skills. As the role involves building relationships with local stakeholders and communities, good interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for meeting new people is also helpful;
  • As this is an agency setting, you should also be able to work well as part of a team and to prioritise competing deadlines effectively;
  • Some experience of working with media outlets and on social media would also be desirable.  With a primary focus on proposed new energy, transport and infrastructure, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of how these issues are considered in politics and the media;
  • Experience working in either politics (local preferably), campaigning, media or social media is helpful but not essential, along with experience in the energy, infrastructure or property sectors;
  • This role is suited for either a recent graduate or someone with relevant experience.

More reasons to apply:

Our people are at the heart of everything we do and their experience at SEC Newgate is so important to us. Our ambition is to create a working environment where everyone can thrive and be part of a fun, friendly and high-calibre team. We meet the ambition and drive of our people with the opportunities and support to build a successful career.

We are incredibly proud of the culture we have built and have recently been listed in The Sunday Times best places to work in 2025.

And if that’s not enough, here is a taster of what else is included:

  • Hybrid working (40% in the home).
  • Flexible working hours, with core hours from 10am - 4pm.
  • 30 days annual leave with the option to buy some, plus an additional day off for your birthday and an additional charity day off.
  • Access to Oliva, our mental health support platform and up to ten therapy or coaching session as years.
