Do you have an in-depth understanding of the housing sector, and a great track record of developing and implementing organisation-wide public affairs strategies? You could be our next Director of External Affairs & Partnerships.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, we’ll rely on you to lead the development and implementation of Optivo’s public affairs strategy. You will increase our influence by developing high quality, impactful research, public policy proposals and other new initiatives. It will be important to represent us in public forums via regular contributions to the media. You will forge relationships with key political stakeholders – from the Prime Minister’s office to the GLA and local authorities. And we’ll also count on you to increase our influence on the national stage, build our reputation as a thought leader, optimise our social purpose and achieve our objectives.

About you

You are a creative and innovative thinker with a broad understanding of public affairs. You are keen to contribute to the overall leadership of a relatively new, yet sizeable, provider in the housing sector. You’re also an effective strategist who’s used to operating and influencing at the highest levels, and adept at drafting complex policy-influencing pieces for external audiences such as politicians and the trade press. Excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills are essential too, as is a high level of numeracy and a flair for analysis and problem solving. In addition, you have what it takes to see the big picture when representing a business. You’ll also be abreast of sector and public policy issues in order to advise the CEO and Executive Team.

About us

Optivo was formed in May 2017 from the merger between Viridian Housing and AmicusHorizon. We’re one of the largest housing providers in the UK. We’re also quickly becoming a truly influential voice in the housing sector and are excited about the opportunity to make a significant contribution to its future.
