The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

The Horticultural Trades Association is looking to appoint a new senior position. As one of the largest membership organisations we lobby and campaign on behalf of our members within the horticulture industry and provide a whole range of member services including, business solutions, events, market information and learning & development.

We have 1500 members which include garden retailers, growers, landscapers and suppliers to the garden industry. Our garden gifting scheme is the UK's longest running garden consumer promotion which drives around 2 million visits annually into garden centres.

As a member of the senior leadership team, this role has shared responsibility for leading and implementing the strategic direction and operational management of the HTA to ensure it meets the needs of its members.

On a day-to-day basis, this role will take the lead on the HTA’s strategic lobbying and policy work. The role’s main objective will be to positively influence public policy on behalf of HTA members by working with national government and sector-specific organisations.

The role will also be responsible for implementing an effective communications strategy that informs and engages with members, parliament, relevant bodies and associations and the wider stakeholders within the ornamental horticulture industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy - Influencing and informing through policy insight and influencing change;
  • Government Liaison - at a local and national level;
  • PR – understanding and experience of Public Relations and working to develop strategically beneficial partnerships;
  • Communications - provide framework and direction for the Association.

We are looking for a confident, articulate PR and Public Affairs Lead who will have knowledge and understanding of media relations, communications, public policy and campaigns. You will have insight into policy and know how to use influence for success.

You will be prepared to get 'hands on operationally' and make things happen! You must possess the ability to implement operational plans and meet targets and deadlines.
