Are you looking for a challenge – one that can offer a once in a lifetime experience? Do you have track record of success in implementing initiatives for economic growth? Are you adaptable and responsive? Are you known for collaboration?
If this sounds like you, we invite you to join the team of talented professionals who are working together to grow a Nation. The Falkland Islands enjoy a strong economy with abundant natural resources, unspoiled environment and full employment, yet is one of the world’s smallest and most remote countries. Its future growth will depend on its readiness and ability to grasp the new opportunities at its doorstep, while maintaining its unique culture and heritage. To help Falkland Islanders reach their goals, we are looking for a few economic development specialists who know the power of government and community working together.
In return for your passion, creativity and hard work, the Falkland Islands Government can offer you a real opportunity to help shape a range of critical infrastructure, policies and initiatives that will make a lasting difference to our future prosperity.
The new colleagues we are looking to appoint include:
INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Your team approach to economic development and your experience in rural or remote communities will help you to provide leadership and momentum in the development and coordination of projects and initiatives that rapidly deliver on actions identified in our soon-to-be-completed 2017 Economic Development Strategy Update. You will work closely with the business community, Falkland Islands Development Corporation (FIDC) and Government departments and use your knowledge of proven economic development tools to achieve sector growth.
LABOUR FORCE SPECIALIST
You know how to work with employers and communities to create appropriate and targeted labour force development initiatives and are well versed in best practices to achieve immediate and long term sustainable growth objectives. Working with and through local partners, you will identify, propose, create and deliver focused labour attraction, retention and local skills development projects that respond to current and projected demand and that provide a balance between permanent and temporary workers.
TOURISM SPECIALIST
As a seasoned collaborator and tourism development practitioner, you have a strong understanding of the unique challenges of delivering long term, sustainable tourism growth in remote communities. Your background most likely includes identifying and promoting opportunities for new investment, working closely with government and industry partners to improve critical infrastructure and assets and leading the development of destination development plans that respect and celebrate truly special places.
Contract type: 2 year fixed term appointments
If you recognise yourself in these descriptions, have a sense of adventure and a true desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
