The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

A newly created position, working with Manchester Airport Group’s (MAG) PA Director and CSR Director. Within this post, you will partner to deliver key aspects of MAG’s Public Affairs engagement and CSR strategies. 

You will support the management and reporting of MAG’s CSR performance and in the development and implementation of a stakeholder engagement programme to protect and enhance MAG’s reputation. You will also promote understanding of and acceptance of M.A.G’s strategic objectives.

Reports to: Public Affairs (PA) Director and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Director.

The Key Responsibilities

Working with the PA Director, you will support the implementation of a high-impact influencing and engagement programme with external stakeholders, including elected representatives, business partners and industry colleagues to promote understanding, acceptance and support for the Group’s objectives.

Partnering with the CSR Director, you will provide leadership to elements of MAG’s published CSR Strategy. This will require the production of briefings, reports, and plans developed in conjunction with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Working with External Affairs teams across all M.A.G airports (Stansted, Manchester, East Midlands and Bournemouth), you will maintain close working relationships with key colleagues to ensure that the Group’s Public Affairs and CSR strategies are informed by, and reflect, local priorities.

You will prepare written communication materials, speeches and briefings to support the successful delivery of the Public Affairs stakeholder engagement programme; and monitor, evaluate and report on the Group’s public affairs and stakeholder engagement activity and its effectiveness.

You will work with other members of the External Affairs Team, to develop and implement stakeholder awareness campaigns as required, acting as a confident, credible and effective ambassador to MAG.

You will support the MAG Group’s drive to build trust in its achievements, values and goals. M.A.G seeks to achieve a range of prestigious third party awards and you will co-ordinate the preparation and submission of relevant bids (such as the Business in the Community (BITC) index, Community Mark and Global Reporting Index). This will include working across all four airports to ensure that, group-wide, the approach taken is consistent, programmed and systematic. 

You will take the lead on MAG’s monthly and annual CSR reporting exercise, at both corporate and airport level to ensure that a high impact set of reports is published which accord with the needs of internal and external stakeholders. For this you will provide a cohesive set of messages that are technically accurate and achieve third party certification at the highest level. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to continually improve the content, quality and clarity of internal reporting.

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in policy/public affairs/local or national government;
  • University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of Corporate and Social Responsibility, policy making process and application in a large organisation;
  • Excellent organisation skills, with close attention to detail;
  • High standards of written and verbal communication;
  • Strong influencing skills, ability to grasp understand and promote complex issues in a persuasive way;
  • Ability to develop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder contacts;
  • Effective team working, providing direction and co-ordination;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines on complex issues;
  • Knowledge of CSR standards and certifications;
  • Knowledge of the aviation or transport sectors.
