The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We are looking for a bright and passionate public affairs consultant to join our growing team. You will have an excellent grasp of how Westminster and Whitehall operates, a proven track record of advising clients on UK politics and excellent client and project management skills. As an experienced consultant you will play a vital role as part of integrated campaign teams, working with your account leads to construct political pathways to deliver business outcomes and effect meaningful change. We welcome applications from candidates who have political, agency or in-house experience.

In your role as a consultant you will be responsible for providing high-quality support in the delivery of political strategies, stakeholder management, coalition building and and providing political insight to our clients. Reporting to a senior consultant you will manage research and execution on accounts, building relationships with clients, often leading on client delivery calls, whilst helping us build client and political networks.

Our consultants support the team with day-to-day management of clients across numerous accounts and are expected to develop relationships with clients and wider stakeholders by demonstrating an understanding of how client objectives can be supported integrated campaign strategies.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing day-to-day support on client accounts, assisting the client team with successful delivery of work;
  • Proactively meeting client objectives by anticipating needs, identifying challenges, and addressing them;
  • Supporting the team in drafting presentations and plans, focusing on high quality of work and attention to detail;
  • Keeping track of delivery of work against agreed plans and objectives, helping co-ordinate work and keep track of deadlines;
  • Working with wider teams within the business (data and insights, policy, sustainability, and international offices) to ensure research and insights are made available to support client campaigns;
  • Staying abreast of political, business, and social trends, whilst building your own network with clients to support organic growth and new business efforts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proven relevant experience in a political / public affairs role, such as Parliament / Scottish Parliament / Senedd / Northern Irish Assembly / regional government, political campaigns, agency and / or in-house;
  • Strong project management skills and experience, and an ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities at once;
  • Preferred experience in a direct client engagement and management role, with strong client handling skills and the ability to develop long-term relationships;
  • Preferred experience working directly in politics and / or political campaigns;
  • Experience of managing research and data to inform projects;
  • Strong political and wider stakeholder network;
  • Knowledge of campaign planning and management;
  • Knowledge of crisis and issues management.
