I am currently recruiting for a VP Government Relations & Public Policy (Green Finance or Capital Markets) for a global bank.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Analysing political and public policy developments that affect the Investment Bank and proactively executing advocacy strategies and campaigns to influence the outcome of those developments. This will include issues related to the UK and EU reform of capital markets and associated policy files;
- Advising senior leadership on the impact of public policy developments and advocacy responses for the Investment Bank;
- Proactive advocacy work across teams within the business and forging strong relationships with relevant government departments across these areas;
- Understanding how the broader policy and regulatory environment impacts the business and advising them as such. Where necessary, designing and leading advocacy on relevant policy issues;
- Having strong awareness of the broader team issues and taking a leading role in ensuring cross-team coordination, collaboration and preventing any silos emerging.
You will have:
- Strong communicator – comfortable interacting with people at different levels;
- Deep knowledge of both how public policy is formed and an understanding of the workings of government;
- Experience of working on policy and legislative issues as they impact capital markets. Or green fiancé;
- Proven experience of working across teams and able to contribute to strategic direction;
- Strong on delivery – able to influence others to achieve results;
- Skilful co-ordination in working across a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside the function;
- Strong external radar and comfortable acting as a representative of the company with external stakeholders;
- Numerate and financially literate; able to understand and contribute to business discussions;
- Excellent written communications skills, including speeches, articles, letters, blogs;
- Politically astute and able to understand the dynamics of large, complex organisations;
- Good relationship and excellent stakeholder management skills both across teams and upwards throughout organisations;
- Highly organised and structured.
