The aim of this two-day workshop is to provide you with a solid grounding in public relations. Including campaign design, best practice and media relations, this interactive workshop will help you understand the role public relations plays in organisations and introduce you to a range of today's communication tools.
Who should attend?
Anyone who is new to PR, whether in-house or consultancy, or from a marketing or administrative background. It is also suitable for anyone who has been working in PR for a short time, who has had no formal training, and wants to establish key principles and techniques.

- group work and debates about what works in your organisation/industry
- writing exercises and analysis of examples from practice.
Workshop objectives
Participation in the workshop will provide you with the knowledge to:
- define the role of public relations
- distinguish between the different disciplines of PR: Internal Communications, Public Affairs, Crisis/Issues and Reputation management, Marcomms
- identify different stakeholder groups and publics and assess how to reach them
- design a basic PR plan, incorporating measurement and evaluation
- discuss the role of ethics in PR
- use different social media platforms for different audiences
- undertake effective media relations and successfully build relationships with journalists
- write for the media – what's a story, what makes a story a newsworthy item, press release structure, writing for both offline and online mediums.
