This training event is designed as an advanced stage for those who have already completed the Writing Decision Papers course. This day provides intensive personal support to build and develop skills to produce well argued and influential decision papers. The support begins pre-course with the opportunity to send in examples of writing so that individual written and verbal feedback can be given to people during the day.
The tutor to participant ratio is high approximately four participants to a facilitator. This means that access to expertise and advice can be maximised. Participants will be given the opportunity to work on their own papers on course, and receive individual feedback post course. There will be a session from an experienced decision taker on top tips to get the best response to papers. Templates and handouts will be provided.
By the end of the course participants will:
- Know how to get the essential facts from a mass of material
- Have learned techniques to analyse options to achieve planned outcomes
- Know how to structure and present a complex decision paper succinctly
- Have practised techniques using a case study
- Have gained confidence to originate their own work, and provide feedback to their staff
Speakers:
- Geoff Langsdon - Head of Training at Government Knowledge
- Alan Wren - Training Consultant
