The Scottish Government have tasked Holyrood’s Standards Committee with answering this question. The committee’s inquiry into lobbying in Scotland is welcome and timely, not least as Westminster’s Lobbying Act was passed at great speed, with inadequate consultation, and in fact does very little to regulate lobbying.

We are bringing together views from both sides of the debate for our panel including John Downie, Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations and Unlock Democracy’s director, Alexandra Runswick, with more speakers to be announced. Following introductory words from our panel members, we will be taking contributions from the floor. Do you think lobbying is a problem or simply a part of democracy?

This is the perfect opportunity to kick off the debate about lobbying in Scotland. This is also your chance to find out what happens next with the UK Lobbying Act and the impact for Scotland.

Free tea and coffee will be provided.
