Science and technology funding in an Independent Scotland

With the referendum on Scottish Independence fast approaching, this free breakfast event will explore the possible implications for the funding of the science and technology sectors in Scotland.

Exploring issues such as the future of university spin-outs and R&D funding in an independent Scotland, the event will seek to answer the question of whether or not independence would represent a threat or an opportunity for Midlothian’s thriving and highly innovative life science and technology sectors.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • David Brook, Business for Scotland
  • Dr Richard Simpson MSP
  • Sandy McKinnon - Partner, Pentech Ventures
  • David Lott, Deputy Director of Policy, Universities Scotland
