JBP Communications is a national consultancy at the heart of Westminster. From our office opposite Parliament, we help organisations navigate politics, shape debate and make their voices heard.

The role

Start your career where politics, places and people meet. Working from JBP’s Westminster office, you will support public affairs and strategic communications campaigns, helping clients understand the political landscape, engage decisionmakers and communicate with impact.

This opportunity is open to recent graduates, college leavers and career starters who are curious, politically engaged and ready to learn. While previous experience is not required, a strong knowledge of current affairs and politics is essential.

What we’re looking for

You will be politically engaged, interested in local government and confident working at pace under pressure. Strong research and writing skills are necessary; knowledge of devolution, planning or regional growth is a bonus.

You will be expected to bring attention to detail, good organisational skills and the ability to turn complex information into clear, concise summaries. We’re looking for someone who asks questions, takes initiative and enjoys working as part of a team.

From tracking the day’s political story and researching MPs and councillors to supporting consultations, events and client communications, you will contribute from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor political, policy and media developments.
  • Research MPs, councillors, journalists and community stakeholders.
  • Draft briefings, consultation materials and digital content.
  • Support client campaigns, events and political engagement.
  • Produce and maintain stakeholder lists and help coordinate meeting and event invitations.
  • Take accurate meeting notes and track follow-up actions for the team.

Contract: Three months, with an opportunity for extension or permanent placement.
