Public affairs consultancy Interel has announced it has expanded its presence in South America forming partnerships with communications and public affairs firms in Argentina (Identia), Brazil (Imagem Corporativa), Chile (Extend), Colombia (Dattis) and Peru (Concertum and CSR Consulting).

Interel has built a network of trusted partners in some of the most important countries in South America. These firms offer a broad range of communications, public affairs and government relations services and operate according to the highest professional standard. They have all become part of the Interel Global Partnership, an expanding global network of leading independent consultancies providing public and government affairs, strategic communications, advocacy and business intelligence support in 60 markets worldwide.

The partnerships come at a time of political upheaval across South America, where Brazil is the latest South American country to see center or center right leaders take over from left wing governments. These developments are expected to create rapid demand for professional and transparent government relations and public affairs services.

Fredrik Lofthagen, CEO of Interel and Chairman of the Interel Global Partnership, commented: “Public affairs as a professional service is changing. Clients need an integrated approach across a broad array of private and public sector stakeholders on policy and social issues not just in one but often in many countries.”

Jason Jarrell, head of Interel global practice, based in Washington DC, said: “Our partners in the South American region offer a range of professional and sophisticated public affairs and government relations services, which has put them in a great position to take advantage of increasing demand from domestic and multinational clients. We are very excited to be working with our new partners to support clients in these quickly changing markets.”

This new and expanded capacity builds on Interel's capabilities in North America, led by Jason Jarrell and Benno van der Laan, Director for EU and Latin America.
