Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

We’re looking for an ambitious Account Director / Senior Account Director to join one of the UK’s leading corporate communications agencies working with big brands across the built environment, transport, infrastructure and the green economy.

The suitable candidate will ideally have experience working within the housing, infrastructure or environment sectors, with established political, media or industry networks.

What you’ll need to be

  • A team player, and passionate about continuing to develop your career in communications, and excited to play your part in helping Cavendish Advocacy on its next stage of its journey;
  • Ready to share your experience and knowledge with the wider team, with previous experience drawn from one or more of the following sectors: politics, media and journalism, agency or inhouse roles;
  • An excellent communicator, with strong copywriting and inter-personal skills;
  • Experienced in working on integrated campaigns and issues that involve public affairs, public relations, crisis communications, and social media;
  • Driven to achieve results for clients, with experience in creating and delivering communication strategies that secure impact and measurable results;
  • Able to provide communications counsel to clients, and comfortable with fostering senior client relationships;
  • Experienced with working with key publications, political decision makers and influencers, ideally with your own network and contacts;
  • Adept at leading teams of Account Managers and Executives to deliver and implement corporate communications’ strategies, and able to inspire others around you to help meet client goals;
  • Enthusiastic and willing to help develop new business opportunities – through networking, sales and marketing activities, proposal writing, and pitching.

What you’ll need to do

You’ll be a core part of the senior team within Cavendish Advocacy, and the role will require you to:   

  • Share your knowledge, upskill and mentor the junior members of the team;
  • Take the lead in understanding the client brief, developing strategies to deliver valuable results, and leading the team to deliver integrated communications programmes on time and within budget;
  • Take responsibility for the profitable delivery of work through your own effective working and direction of the team;
  • Own Communications Plans for key clients and take accountability for its delivery in order to grow the size of accounts;
  • Deliver a highly responsive and professional customer experience that builds client loyalty ensuring the client service team are doing the same;
  • Maintain a thorough and in depth understanding of current affairs, politics, policy and media landscapes;
  • Help lead the delivery and planning process for tenders and pitches;
  • Promote the Cavendish Advocacy brand and create new business opportunities through your own networking efforts, and by supporting the team’s marketing activity;
  • Work with the Marketing Team to formulate and launch pro-active outbound marketing campaigns to generate leads for Cavendish Advocacy and BECG Group.
