Key Responsibilities and Duties:

As an Account Executive, you will be a key member of PLMR’s Education Practice, providing high quality servicing to all our clients. To be successful in this role, it is critical that you have a deep passion and interest in both the British media and public affairs (PA), as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will be well organised, highly motivated and able to work under your own initiative, meeting and driving forward activity to deliver these on recurring and project deadlines. In this role you will gain experience of – and exposure to – all the main disciplines of consultancy life with a priority focus on PR and media relations, public affairs and stakeholder engagement and reputation management. You will also have an interest in developing your own networks within both political and media circles.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills
  • An understanding and interest in the media, including newspapers and online outlets and a passion for PR
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with challenging deadlines
  • A can-do attitude and a positive, supportive and proactive approach to work
  • Prior work experience or employment in communications and/or within an agency (desirable)

You will engage in a variety of tasks to support PLMR’s Education Practice which may include some or all the following:

  • Preparing regular client agendas, meeting minutes, reports, and actions lists
  • Attending and contributing to client meetings
  • Liaising with clients at a junior level in a confident manner and responding to requests in a timely manner
  • Building good working relationships both internally and externally
  • Providing regular updates on activity to senior colleagues
  • Drafting press releases for PLMR clients
  • ‘Selling in’ press releases to journalists
  • Compiling media lists in support of a press release mailout
  • Drafting blogs, articles and thought-leadership commentary on behalf of clients
  • Drafting newsletters, briefings, campaign material, and social media posts
  • Monitoring, clipping and evaluating coverage for clients in a range of media outlets including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media channels and blogs
  • Undertaking detailed desk-based research
  • Building stakeholder maps for political and industry figures
  • Drafting letters and liaising with the office of MPs or Ministers
  • Contributing to internal PLMR account meetings or brainstorm sessions
  • Monitoring and providing briefings on political events or policies of relevance to PLMR clients
  • Providing colleagues with general administrative support as required
  • Attending Select Committee hearings, party conferences and other events on behalf of PLMR or clients
  • Developing a positive professional relationship with PLMR colleagues, and contributing to a thriving day to day working environment
  • Promoting a positive, professional image of PLMR as a market leader to external audiences through networking and representing the company at events
  • Completing accurate timesheets and providing necessary information for invoicing and cost recharging
  • Meeting internal deadlines, being organised and punctual, and developing a reputation as a reliable, competent consultant
  • Reflecting a can-do attitude and a passion for achieving results, as well as being highly motivated and able to work under your own initiative
