About the Role:
As a Health and Social Care PR Account Manager, you will be central to driving excellent client delivery and trusted counsel. You’ll bring proven experience in media relations, social media, and reputation management, with a strong track record of securing coverage across local, trade, national and digital media, including in fast-paced and issues-sensitive environments.
While this role will largely support PR work, PLMR Healthcomms provides integrated PR and Public Affairs campaigns to clients and you may be asked to support public affairs work as well. While policy experience is not essential, strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills are a must.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Leading and delivering integrated PR programmes for health and social care clients, including press releases, reports, interview briefing notes, stakeholder outreach and crisis statements
- Developing compelling news angles and media pitches that raise client profile and support strategic objectives
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, journalists, and sector stakeholders, becoming a trusted point of contact
- Providing day-to-day leadership on accounts, steering teams to deliver high-quality work, on time and to budget, and identifying opportunities to add value
- Monitoring health and social care policy and media developments, advising on implications, risks and opportunities
- Supporting and guiding clients through reputation management and issues-sensitive communications
- Contributing to account development and new business, including identifying leads, supporting pitches and developing proposals
- Managing, mentoring and developing junior colleagues, helping build their consultancy skills
- Producing accurate, client-ready content with strong editorial standards and minimal senior amendments
- Representing PLMR Healthcomms at sector events, seminars and conferences, supporting the firm’s profile and network
- Continuing to build sector expertise in health and social care, meeting personal development objectives set with your line manager
Key Skills and Competencies
- Proven experience in communications and PR, either agency-side or in-house, within health and social care (or closely related sectors)
- Expertise securing print and digital media coverage across national, trade and local outlets for clients, as well as identifying opportunities and preparing reactive communications for further reach
- A strong understanding of and interest in the UK media, health policy and political landscape, with a growing network of journalists and awareness of key health and care outlets
- Excellent writing, presentation and verbal communication skills, with a confident client-facing style
- Proven reputation and issues management experience
- Experiencing of leveraging social media channels to further the reach of earned PR coverage
- Confidence in adapting messaging for different audiences and channels, including thought leadership and stakeholder comms
- The ability to work proactively, independently and at pace, managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience of line management or mentoring, with a positive, supportive and can-do approach
- Familiarity with paid campaigns and public affairs support is a plus
