The Policy Research Unit (PRU) is a pooled research facility for over 100 Conservative MPs based on the Parliamentary Estate.
The PRU team includes Parliamentary Advisers, each of whom specialises in one or more policy areas, providing Parliamentary support for MPs.
The Parliamentary Adviser team is supported by one or more Correspondence and Briefing Officers, who support those Parliamentary Advisers with the ebb and flow of briefing and correspondence demands, working across the team where the need arises.
The post of Correspondence and Briefing Officer would suit someone who is highly organised with strong written communication skills, an ability to pick up new subjects quickly and an interest in current affairs.
Key responsibilities
- To draft and update accurate standard and tailored correspondence to be used by MPs on a range of areas of policy.
- With guidance from Parliamentary Advisers, to draft accurate briefings on a range of topics for use in Parliament.

- An interest in politics and a good understanding of current affairs
- Sympathetic to the views of the Conservative Party and happy to write from the perspective of Conservative parliamentarians
- Ability to work with a wide range of colleagues

- Excellent IT skills including using Microsoft Office programs
