The role

To support the continued growth and development of our financial services team, we are looking for a driven and talented policy adviser to join us. The successful candidate will have a passion for politics, specifically with an interest and experience in the financial services policy space. You will be someone who is committed to delivering excellence and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The adviser will be a pivotal player in a team that provides cutting edge regulatory and political analysis and engagement advice to some of the most exciting brands in the industry, and help shape the future of this fast-growth part of the business.

You will have proven experience as a policymaker or working for a financial services institution, a trade association, a consultancy or in a financial services-facing political role.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Client Management

  • Work across our impressive portfolio of financial services clients on policy support as well as supporting clients from other sectors;
  • Provide regulatory/political analysis and engagement advice. An active player in client delivery;
  • Consistently focussed on what matters most to clients, how to add value through policy knowledge and counsel;
  • Support client relationship management demonstrating strong lateral thinking and an aptitude for joining the dots across client briefs.

Leadership & Development

  • Capable of integrating and quickly establishing a manager position in a team, equally comfortable interacting with senior advisers and directing capable executives;
  • Coaches and supervises junior colleagues on accounts, including delegation, motivation, and development;
  • Gives final approval of work created by more junior colleagues, providing coaching and effective feedback;
  • Makes constructive proposals for changing and improving working practices in the team.

The ideal candidate profile:

  • Strong political insight and intuition with a shrewd understanding of the UK political and regulatory landscape, in particular in Financial Services;
  • Experience could be across any part of the financial services policy spectrum, in areas including sustainable finance, digital finance, markets legislation or prudential legislation;
  • Possesses an analytical mind with first class verbal and written communications skills. Expected to absorb and assess technical policy documents and other source materials, creating crisp summary copy and recommendations;
  • Has a nascent network in the Financial Services arena and a keen interest to grow this further;
  • Proven experience, for example as a policymaker or working for a financial services institution, a trade association, a consultancy or possibly in a financial-services facing political role;
  • Dedicated to producing high quality work and going the extra mile in a fast paced environment;
  • Experience as a people manager or coaching others would be beneficial;
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills to encourage respectful debate and is not afraid to take risks;
  • Is not afraid uo break new ground and find new ways to solve old problems. An entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to think on your feet.
  • Enjoy working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds and opinions.
