The Law Society are looking to recruit an International Policy Assistant to support English and Welsh solicitors grow their global footprint by improving how they operate overseas and to promote their international expertise.

You will promote the solicitor brand globally, the benefits of using English and Welsh law to international business, as well as to highlight England and Wales as a Global Legal Centre.

Passionate about international relations, you’ll be responsible for understanding the global landscape of the legal services industry, from engaging with business, regulators and governmental/non-governmental organisations in the UK and overseas.

This wide-ranging role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in policy work to expand upon their existing skill set and develop within a well-known and well-respected organisation in the legal sector. As a policy assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the work of an international team of policy advisers with a primary on Asia.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a natural communicator who is comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds. You will have excellent written communication skills, including the use of web and social media. Experience of working with and drafting policy documents as well as the ability to think analytically is important.

You must be able to follow UK and international policy developments with a knack for spotting opportunities for engagement which may lead to the organisation of events.

This role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to take initiative. You must be able to demonstrate you are well organised and possess good administrative skills.
